Room 329: Monolayers The Monolayers project resides in this lab. Here we study Langmuir monolayers at an air-water interface with a variety of optical techniques. A titanium: sapphire oscillator is used in experiments that use second harmonic generation. Second harmonic in monolayers:   The surface specificity and sensitivity of this technique allows Nan Shen to study molecular orientation in monolayer of liquid crystal molecules.
